Apple Butter Donuts

Apple Butter Donuts

Few flavors capture the essence of fall quite like apple, and these Apple Butter Donuts are the perfect way to indulge in that seasonal magic. Fluffy, golden donuts coated in cinnamon sugar and filled with GOOD GOOD Apple Butter (our Amazon-exclusive flavor!) make for a mouthwatering experience that feels like a warm hug on a crisp autumn day.

Whether you’re serving them at a cozy gathering, treating yourself after a pumpkin patch adventure, or just embracing the flavors of the season, these donuts deliver all the fall vibes. Get ready to roll, fry, and fill your way to a dessert that’s irresistibly good—and undeniably GOOD GOOD.

Ingredients
Donut Dough
● 3 2/3 cup all purpose flour
● 1 1/4 cup whole milk, warm
● 1 1/2 teaspoon instant yeast
● 1/3 cup granulated white sugar
● 1 teaspoon salt
● 1 large egg, room temp
● 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
● vegetable oil, for frying

Filling and Garnish
● ~½ cup sugar
● ~5 tbsp cinnamon
● ~1 20oz jar GOOD GOOD Apple Butter (Amazon exclusive)

Instructions

Make the dough, fry, and fill

  1. To a large mixing bowl, add the warm milk, instant yeast, sugar, salt, and egg. Whisk together until completely smooth.
  2. Then add the room temperature (or slightly melted) butter and all purpose flour.
  3. Combine together using a hook attachment and stand mixer or a wooden spoon/rubber spatula. Knead the dough for about ~4 minutes and then transfer to an oiled bowl.
  4. Cover, and place in a warm place to rise about an 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours.
  5. Once the dough has risen, flour a working surface and rolling pin and roll out the dough until it is about 1/2 an inch thick, or less.
  6. Using a cookie cutter (or reusing a GOOD GOOD jar lid!) punch out circular donuts. Once you can't punch out anymore, gather the scraps, combine together, roll out again, and punch more until all the dough is used.
  7. Place on an oiled baking sheet or parchment paper and cover for 30 minutes.
  8. Heat oil suitable for frying in a pot or deep pan like vegetable, canola, or peanut oil. The perfect temperature is around 325°F to 350°F
  9. Add the donuts in, making sure not to crowd them. Fry on each side until golden, flipping over halfway (this process is pretty quick!).
  10. Transfer to a paper towel or wire rack to drain the excess oil. Repeat with the rest of the dough until all fried.
  11. Combine cinnamon and sugar in a plate or bowl and add donuts one at a time to cover in a cinnamon sugar coating.
  12. Use a piping bag fitted with a small tip or use a ziplock bag. Fill the bag with your desired amount of GOOD GOOD Apple Butter (we ended up using nearly the whole jar for EXTRA delicious filling).
  13. Make a deep hole on one side of each donut. Insert the piping bag into the hole and fill the donut with the GOOD GOOD Apple Butter.
  14. Enjoy with family and friends!
