Choco Hazel Yule Log Cake

Bring festive flair to your holiday dessert table with this indulgent Choco Hazel Yule Log Cake. A rich chocolate Swiss roll, creamy mascarpone filling, and GOOD GOOD’s Choco Hazel spread come together to create a show-stopping treat that’s as delicious as it is stunning.

Chocolate Swiss Roll Cake

Ingredients:

  • 5 eggs
  • 120 g (about 1/2 cup) sugar
  • 100 g (about 3/4 cup) flour
  • 40 g (about 1/3 cup) rich cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract or paste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (356°F) (fan).
  2. Combine all the dry ingredients in a bowl.
  3. In another bowl, whisk eggs and sugar with an electric mixer on high speed for 5 minutes, or until fluffy. Add vanilla.
  4. Sift the dry ingredients into the egg mixture and fold carefully with a spatula until smooth and homogeneous.
  5. Pour the batter onto a prepared baking tray lined with parchment paper and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let the cake cool for 4 minutes. Place a new piece of parchment paper on top, then flip the cake onto a large board or another baking tray. Cover with a kitchen cloth and carefully roll the cake like a burrito. Allow it to cool while maintaining its shape.

Mascarpone Cream

Ingredients:

  • 500 g (about 2 cups) mascarpone
  • 100 g (about 1/2 cup) whipping cream
  • 100 g (about 1/2 cup) powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Add all the ingredients to a bowl and whisk with an electric mixer on medium speed for no more than 30 seconds, until just combined.

Assembling the Yule Log

You’ll need:

  1. Carefully unroll the cooled Swiss roll cake. Spread a layer of GOOD GOOD’s Choco Hazel spread (about 1/3 of the jar) evenly over the surface.
  2. Top with the mascarpone cream and spread evenly.
  3. Gently roll the cake back up and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  4. After chilling, cut 1/4 of the cake diagonally and place it on the side of the roll to mimic a log branch.
  5. Spread the remaining Choco Hazel spread over the entire log and decorate with a dusting of powdered sugar for a festive touch.
